SAGE Dining Service’s Food Service Director for Mount Vernon, Chef Allen Clark, has been selected to share his deep knowledge and understanding of all things culinary, with another school in the Atlanta area.
In just four years of working with Mount Vernon, Chef Allen has gone above and beyond to bring culinary specialties and nutritional awareness to our students, faculty, and staff. For example, he roasted a pig over an open fire pit, planted an herb garden with students, made pizza with preschoolers to reinforce their learning of fractions, and increased our health inspection score to 100. As a community, we are sad to see him go.
Coming in as our new Food Service Director, is Justin Grona. Originally from New York, Chef Justin is a graduate of the Culinary Academy of Long Island and also completed the Culinary Management Program at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.
Chef Allen will work alongside Chef Justin for a few weeks, to make the transition for our students, faculty, and staff, a smooth one.
Allen shares, “I leave MVPS with a sense of sadness because I love MVPS and the community here and pride in knowing that we have done some amazing things while I have been here. The team that I have worked with is strong, dedicated and talented. I will miss them all. I do look forward to a new challenge and the opportunity to play with a whole new group of people.”
After only his first day, Justin says, “I am both honored and excited to be joining the MVPS community and family. Chef Allen has certainly left his mark on this school and I am not looking to replace him, but to honor the legacy he has left. I look forward to working with each and every one of you to provide outstanding food, service and a true partnership. Food is my absolute passion and I can’t wait to share my culinary vision with this entire campus.”
Please welcome Chef Justin to the Mount Vernon family as we say goodbye to our friend.Β
