Varsity Football Coach Wayne Dabbs introduced the young men: “Today, history is being made. Never before in Mount Vernon School history have three young men signed a Division I College Football Scholarship on National Signing Day. As proud as we are that you get this opportunity to do that today, we are more proud of the footprint and the impact that you guys have made since you’ve stepped foot on this campus. It has been an honor and a privilege to coach these guys and to play a ย small role in their lives. I look forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for them as they enter a new chapter at the college level. We love you guys. We are proud of you. Parents – we love you and are excited for you.”

“First off I want to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity because my freshman year I didn’t know anything about college football. I tore my ACL midseason and got down and depressed but thanks to these wonderfulย people behind me – they kept me motivated, kept me pushing. It’s a blessing to be here today. I tore my ACL the first game my senior season. My brothers carried the season and the team on their back. My boy Alan had a tough role to stand up to because he played defensive end and I want to thank him for picking up my position. Thank you to all the coaches. This is a blessing – not everyone has this chance. For me to be up here with my boys who I’ve been with since Middle School. Thank you.”

“First off, I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play this sport that I love. I want to thank my parents Daisy and Andre and my brother Samuel and my little brother Eric for supporting me, I also want to thank several coaches that have been vital to my football career. I am glad to be up here with my brothers.” Read more about the WCU Catamount 2017 incoming class roster.

“I want to thank God for this opportunity to play at the next level. I want to thank the coaches who have taught me everything to get here. For pushing me to go as hard as I can go and even harder. Especially Coach Dabbs – I really appreciate you being a part of this football program. I definitely thank my mom for everything she’s done for me over the past 18 years.”
