img_4578Continually seeking ways to vary routes –Mount Vernon and R&D partner MVIFI, Mount Vernon Institute for Innovation, recently hosted seven maverick leaders from around the country who shared what it takes to design for a better world.
The evening–A Night of Inquiry, Innovation and Impact— held October 20 at Grace Midtown– was thought-provoking and inspiring, and it challenged people to consider what the future demands, especially as it relates to learning.
In a TED talk-like environment, each trailblazer including one extraordinarily talented cellist, shared his/her own perspective on future possibilities. Topics of discussion focused on neuroscience in education, ed tech innovation, entrepreneurialism, corporate transformational design, social innovation & engineering, and school change. Their stories, provocations, and research affirmed Mount Vernon’s mission and provided clarity on how the School might continue to reimagine education. Learn more about each speaker by checking out their bios on MVIFI’s website.
While attendees came away with revolutionary ideas about the future, the evening also included meaningful time for networking and fellowship. Sharing gratitude with participants, MVPS and MVIFI organizers thanked attendees not only for the investment of their time, but also for braving the Atlanta traffic.
Sending feedback afterwards, Susan Lucas (mom to Spencer ’19, Russell ’22, and Anna Kathryn ’25) shared, “(I) love how MVPS is leading the way in so many areas via MVIFI. I am really looking forward to hearing even more about how some of these innovative ideas may be applied to the MVPS strategic plan as well as in the day of the life of an MVPS student now.  Very exciting stuff.”
Over the next several weeks, MVIFI will release each speaker’s talk via video allowing everyone the opportunity to be a part of the conversation.
