An Unprecedented Collaboration with Georgia Tech’s Design Bloc/School of Industrial Design

Thanks to a generous grant from the Edward E. Ford Foundation, Mount Vernon Presbyterian School and the Mount Vernon Institute for Innovation (MVIFI) are building a powerful partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology’s Design Bloc and the School of Industrial Design.
During the first phase of a multi-year plan, a Mount Vernon cohort of faculty and administrators will participate in a sixteen-week program to gain knowledge and hone their skills in advanced design thinking, industrial design, creative instruction, project-based learning, and entrepreneurship. Weekly training will take place from August 2018 through April 2019, on sixteen, non-consecutive Fridays.
This professional learning will allow our faculty to continue their cutting-edge work in teaching and instruction while positioning Mount Vernon to forward the ambitious objectives of our MVx Strategic Plan. Ultimately, these efforts will result in even higher quality experiences and opportunities for our students and the outreach of MVIFI, our own research and design (R&D) lab for education.
This partnership is an unprecedented collaboration between a Preschool through grade 12 school and a college or university. It is truly extraordinary to have an opportunity to advance our work in a PS-16 setting.
