This year, The Mount Vernon School earned the College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles. Schools honored with this award have expanded girls’ access in AP computer science courses.Β

β€œBy encouraging young women to study advanced computer science coursework, Mount Vernon is closing the gap in computer science education and empowering female students to access the opportunities available in STEM career fields,” shared College Board Chief of Global Policy and External Relations Stefanie Sanford.Β

She went on to say, β€œComputer science is the foundation of many 21st-century career options, and young women deserve equal opportunities to pursue computer science education and drive technological innovation.”

Through the School’s leadership in diversifying computer science education. Mount Vernon is preparing female students for the in-demand jobs of the future and giving them the opportunity to help solve some of society’s most challenging problems – becoming true engaged citizen leaders.Β
