Screen Shot 2017-04-05 at 1.56.01 PMWhile many Atlanta baseball fans will head to the Braves’ season opener next Friday– earlier this week Mount Vernon’s Business & Entrepreneurship Club got a sneak peek of the team’s new home: Suntrust Park.
Students were treated to an extreme experience which included getting an upfront view of the field from inside the Braves’ new dugout, seeing the team’s state-of-the-art locker room, and sitting in the prestigious press box over the field. Included in the tour were many stops along the way, such as the Xfinity rooftop experience, the Braves Chophouse, and the Hope and Will Sandlot for kids sponsored by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta featuring a zipline and rock climbing wall.
The tour also included a glimpse of the business side of the Atlanta Braves. Emphasizing there isn’t a bad seat in the house, the Braves organization intentionally created an intimate setting with 30,000 seats versus Turner Field’s capacity of 50,000. With that intimacy comes dynamic pricing, meaning ticket prices will fluctuate throughout the season depending on demand.
Drawing from the network of our families and Expert in Residence, Michael Blair, father to Jane Brooks (grade 5) and Ben (grade 11) made the Suntrust Park tour possible. Michael works for Pollock Shores Real Estate Group, an Atlanta-based company that worked with the Braves organization to develop the Battery – the mixed-use real estate around the stadium. Earlier this year he was a B&E Club guest speaker and shared the background of the business of the game.
B&E members and the School are extremely grateful for the opportunity!
