A Winning Homecoming Celebration

Mount Vernon’s 2013 Homecoming week was a celebration to remember and one ending with a victory on the football field!Β The week included spirit-dress days for Preschool, Lower School, and Middle School students and outrageous and creative outfits in the Upper School. During each afternoon Upper School students gathered for competitions including a faculty volleyball game. At Friday’s All-School Pep Rally the student body rallied to support the Varsity Football Team including a special appearance from “Kenny G.” Later that evening the entire community came together for Concert on the Glenn complete with food truck fare, entertainment by the Upper School Praise Band, the band Sound Influence, and “The Village People”. The following day, despite the torrential rains, during the Homecoming Football Game the Mustangs soundly defeated the Cross Keys Indians 22-2 (see story about the football game). During halftime the members of the 2013 Homecoming Court accompanied by their families participated in the Homecoming Ceremony. Selected by their peers earning the title of Homecoming King and Queen were Keon Douglas and Amelia Kohl.
Capping off the week, the Upper School celebrated in style at the annual Homecoming Dance.
