Upper School students who earn Mount Vernon’s Innovation Diploma will be more than innovation ready. They will observe, question, empathize, experiment, and lead others as they craft and implement innovations that enhance their local, national, and global communities. This experience will empower students to craft their own, customized learning experience focused around following their passions to enhance their communities.
The Innovation Diploma creates opportunity for cohort members to explore new ideas, revisit some old ones, and work with peers who are curious and excited about learning. It’s a chance to discover or rediscover creative confidence–that natural ability to come up with new ideas and dig up the courage to actually try them out. We’ll challenge learners to step out of typical comfort zones and into the world–to meet with and talk with experts in a variety of fields, work with their hands to create something unexpected, write in a way they haven’t written before, or learn something they never knew they could. It’ll be messy. It’ll be exciting. It’ll be challenging. It will be rewarding.
