Students in Preschool through grade 6 filled the Founders Campus Sanctuary with toys, games, dolls and life-sized stuffed animals, while seventh through twelfth graders created a mountain of toys on the Glenn Campus to contribute to the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots drive.
In each location, students in various grade levels led prayer, readings of verse, personal testimonials about the spirit of giving and sang songs of praise and joy.
Both United States Marine Corps representatives, Sergeant Carlton Roach and Captain Brent Adams thanked our community on behalf of the Corps. “We cannot thank Mount Vernon’s students, teachers and parents enough for their tremendous generosity. Your gifts will help many families who need our support this year as well as help us achieve the goal of 900,000 donated toys in the Atlanta area this Christmas,” shared Captain Adams.
Since 1947, Toys for Tots has collected over 500 million toys for children in need. In 2015, in the Atlanta area alone (18 counties) Toys for Tots collected over 700,000 toys.
We can be proud of our school for contributing 1,033 toys this year!!
