A Mount Vernon Upper School Announcement

Mar 20, 2019 | All School, Build People Up, US Athletics

As we enter the last quarter of the school year and look forward to the commencement season for the Class of 2019, we also celebrate faculty and staff members for their service and contributions to Mount Vernon.Β Β

Krista Parker, Upper School Dean of Student Life and Operations, has been named the Director of Upper School at the Atlanta Girls School for the 2019-2020 school year.

For more than a decade, Krista has served Mount Vernon Presbyterian School as an administrator, teacher, parent, and friend. She has embraced Mount Vernon’s bold vision while championing the best experience possible for all students and faculty. With her steady presence and collaborative leadership, the Upper School has grown from a young upstart to a nationally recognized, innovative program. Now, nearing completion of earning her doctorate degree, Krista will continue her leadership journey with this next, exciting opportunity.

Krista cares deeply about MV students. Relationships are truly foundational for her. As she calls the names of graduates from the stage each May, her tears are evidence of the meaningful bonds and great pride she feels for the students and families at Mount Vernon. We will continue to realize her impact on the life of our community. Join me in expressing our gratitude to Krista for her heavy-liftingΒ on behalf of every faculty and staff member, student, and parent at the School. She will be missed.

Looking forward, the Upper School continues to experience a tremendous amount of demand and growth as we transition into a unique learning facility for the 2019-2020 school year. To fully support the needs of students, the Upper School will expand from having one deanΒ of student life and operations to two.

Wayne Dabbs will be taking on one of the new Upper School Dean of Student Life and Operations roles. Over the past several years, Wayne’s passion for building relationships, his faith, and the growth of the football program has enriched the Mount Vernon experience for all. Wayne’s influence on the community is evident through the congregation of athletes, parents, and students who assemble on the field at the end of each football game, win or lose. We are thrilled to welcome Wayne in his new role and look forward to the expansion of his influence amongst the student body. Wayne will continue in his role as coach and teacher, too.

The Upper School will conduct a national search for the next dean to work alongside Wayne and the Upper School Leadership Team.

Please join us as we honor Krista’s legacy and celebrate Wayne’s appointment.
