Lower School Celebrates Fall

Nov 26, 2013 | Lower School News, Uncategorized

Princesses, Superheroes, Witches and all sorts of animals gathered on the Lower School courtyard to celebrate Fall last weekend.Β Dancing to the DJ’s beat, playing various musical games, going on hay rides, hay bale jumping, face painting, and literally running around with friends proved to be non-stop fun for the K – Grade 4 set and all of their siblings.

Pumpkins that were decorated earlier that week by individual classes in Kindergarten through Grade 2 were put on display and curated by a panel of judges. Creative scarecrows that were both scary and cute were constructed by students in Grades 3 and 4 and also sought a prize.

Mrs. Culbertson’s 1st graders won the pumpkin decorating contest with their Wizard of Oz Lion and Tin Man duo while Mrs. King’s 3rd grade Despicable Me Minions were voted most popular scarecrows. The winning classes received balls, frisbees, hula hoops and other activity-encouraging items to use during recess on the courtyard.
While kids were busy being kids, families joined together for a picnic of BBQ sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, baked beans and coleslaw, all provided by Chef Todd and our in-house dining service, SAGE. Make your own sundaes topped off the feast making the entire event a night to remember.
Heleena Roush, Fall Fest Chair, would like to extend a special thanks to the Fall Fest Committee:Β Deanna Anderson, Amber Dawson, Jenny Forst, Marney Garzon, Tejal Hill, Trina Minogue, Mike Roush, Nicole Tuggle and Mary Dodd Walker, along with the many other volunteers who stepped in to help with dinner check in, ice cream scooping, activities and clean up!
