Lower School Concept: DIT (Do It Together) Instead of DIY (Do It Yourself)

Sep 5, 2018 | All School, Come to Play, Lower School News

Learners in Kindergarten through fourth grade have been busy the past couple of weeks….exploring, discovering, designing, collaborating, and critiquing… critical components to being MADE in MV.Β Our learning journey blends foundational experiences with innovative practices to inspire and engage each child. We start with a focus on the relationship between the teacher and child. By cultivating the skills of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity through initiatives like Project-Based Learning, Design Thinking, and Visible Thinking, we build a strong foundation of the core academic skills of literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, foreign language, visual and performing arts, and physical education.Β
Now is the time to cultivate the habits of mind necessary to build great people. We have cultivated a nurturing and innovative learning community where each student’s uniqueness is celebrated. Each child’s strengths are recognized, and students are stretched to build grit, perseverance, and self-confidence as young learners.
