RN4_1269Mount Vernon’s Council on Innovation set for Friday, October 23

As a School of inquiry, innovation and impact, Mount Vernon Presbyterian School and Mount Vernon’s Institute for Innovation will soon welcome 21 extraordinary Atlanta leaders to the School.

On Friday, October 23, we will host our third annual Council on InnovationCOI includes leaders who are experts and visionaries in entrepreneurship, business, and education from throughout the Atlanta community. Called together as a league of advisors, the Council provides insight and inspiration to Mount Vernon Presbyterian School and the Mount Vernon Institute for Innovation.

For a full day, the Council on Innovation will work with students, faculty, and leadership focusing on this year’s theme of Disruptive Curiosity. Such perspective and partnership enhances the School’s capacity to develop learners who engage real-life challenges.

The 2015 Council on Innovation (see members here) includes business leaders from Google, Coca-Cola, AT&T, The Weather Channel, Cox Communications, Georgia Tech, Emory University and many other organizations vital to metro Atlanta. Half of the members are parents of Mount Vernon students and the other half do not have children who attend MVPS.

In it’s first year, the 2013 Council on Innovation focused on the theme of Global Competitiveness, and consequently influenced the creation of Mount Vernon’s Innovation Diploma Program. Council Members in 2014 delved into the topic of Creative Impact. The experience made a profound impact through the School’s Experts in Residence Program, the Upper School iProject, and on Fuse, the School’s summer design thinking conference.
