Upper School Exam Policies
With the exception of foreign language, electives exams will be administered before Friday, December 13, on a date to be determined by each electives teacher and communicated to students by or before November 22.
Final exams will be administered betweenΒ 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.Β FromΒ 10:00 am until noon, students may either participate in a silent study hall in the Glenn Campus Media Center or work with a teacher during tutorial. AtΒ noonΒ each day, the building will close to students, and Mount Vernon willΒ notΒ serve lunch.
Students should be picked up following exams at 10 a.m. unless they plan to stay for tutorial, in that case they will should be picked up by 12 noon.
All students are to remain in the exam classroom until their teacher dismisses them. Students should plan on bringing study or reading materials to each exam in the event that the student finishes the exam early.
Standard uniforms are to be worn during exams.
Make-up exams will be given on Friday, December 20, unless students and teachers arrange to schedule the make-up exam earlier in the week. Students are to contact the teacher via email prior to taking a make-up exam. Teachers should notify the Academic Dean when make-up exams are scheduled.
There will be no exams for Religion Seminar.
Your student’s presence at each final exam is absolutely essential. If your student has an emergency or is ill and unable to take the final exam, please contact the teacher immediately and if possible, prior to the administration of theΒ exam.
In the event that your student must take a make-up exam, your student should make arrangements with the teacher to schedule it. In order toΒ protect the integrity of our testing process, a make-up exam will be a different version than the scheduled exam.Β Make-up exams must be completed byΒ 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20.
Teachers of core academic classes will offer tutorials the day before their final exams. Some teachers will hold formal review sessions while others will hold office hours. Please encourage your student to make arrangements with his or her teachers to make the most of tutorial.
If your student uses academic accommodations at Mount Vernon, your student may use those accommodations on final exams. Please remind your student to communicate with his or her teachers about using academic accommodations during final exams.
