Mount Vernon rowers Dylan Paul (β€˜18) and Nick Schab (β€˜20) – competed in regional regattas in March, winning a total of 9 medals between the two of them. These young men are not new to the scene.
Representing Atlanta Junior Rowing (AJRA) at the CCR Duel in Tallahassee, FL, Paul placed first and second, while Schab took first in both of his races. The following weekend, at the John Hunter Regatta at the Lake Lanier Olympic Rowing Venue, Paul took three gold medals for his varsity races; Schab brought home both gold and bronze in his varsity events. Novice coxswain Emery Dikeman (MVPS ’20) also coxed for the novice men’s boats in both regional events.
The Varsity rowers practice at the AJRA Chattahoochee River facility six days a week: each weekday after school and on Saturday mornings. They compete throughout the year – in timed sprint events in the fall season and in regattas across the southeast in Spring season. These events include high school and college club teams and are held at large-scaleΒ rowing venues in Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and California.
