Boys Basketball hosted the first round of GHSA playoffs for the first time in Mount Vernon history with a victory over Mount Pisgah Christian School. Junior Morgan Mulrain led the team in scoring, with 22 points. That win advanced the Mustangs to the Sweet Sixteen and will travel to Christian Heritage School in Dalton, GA on Thursday, February 22 for a 7:30 p.m game.
Girls Soccer is off to a 5-0 start. Led by defense: Skyler Tiffin, Emily Raeside, Emma Markland, and Hannah Hagenau, the team held opponents to just four goals so far this season. Their shutout over St. Francis was led by Gracie Hudgins who scored three times, and Madeleine Hudgins and Cassidy Garrison with two goals apiece.
Boys Baseball is also off to a strong start, with a 3-0 record and outscoring their opponents 32-2. Leading the team is pitcher Tres Gonzalez who threw a no-hitter in game one. Jack Mullen won game two with 9 strike-outs. In game three Nate Anderson went 4 for 4 and Alex Thomas was the winning pitcher.
