Screenshot 2016-04-05 11.36.41During the Upper School interim trip to Seattle, Washington, chaperones James Campbell, Nathan Vigil and Emily Breite took student travelers to Foundry10, a grassroots company that explores learning and educational transformation — discovering different ways to develop a student’s passion.
Foundry10’s founder, Lisa Castaneda, previously met Campbell through a mutual educational connection.
Campbell shares, “One of the coolest things they do, is to invite students throughout the Seattle area to pitch an idea of a project they would like to work on (almost like iProject). If it gets approved by Foundry10, these students then spend a semester or even a year working on the project for High School credit or as a paid internship.”
Specifically for Mount Vernon’s visit, Castaneda designed five different workshop experiences, including: Virtual Reality, Printmaking, Creating Beats, Gaming and Learning. While spending over three hours together on-site, one group built a phone charger.  Watch a 90-second recap video of their visit.
