Farewell Fanfare: A Celebratory Concert
The Upper School and Middle School Mustang Bands, led by Chris Moore and John Grove, delivered solid performances in their spring concert on Tuesday, April 28.
The fifth grade demonstrated their accomplishments with full band arrangements of Dance Celebration, Taking my Walrus for a Walk and Wigan Warriors, while sixth grade band students serenaded the audience with Louie, Louie, Chester, and Imperium.
It was a bittersweet performance for the Glenn Campus Band, as they played their last performance under the baton of Chris Moore. They demonstrated a maturity of sound and strong independent playing skills in all of their selections: Fanfare for the Third Planet, Alleluia, Hebrides Suite, and Star Wars Saga.
At the conclusion of the performance, Mr. Moore was presented with a signed and framed group photo of the band as a token of appreciation from his music students. Moore’s love for music and his dedication to the School has developed and nurtured a passion for music in the lives of countless students during his time at Mount Vernon.
Band student Jacob Buck says of his experience, β€œBand has always been one of my favorite classes, but Mr. Moore makes it even more fun and enjoyable. He really cares about us as students and we are able to talk with him as a friend, not just a teacher. I’ll really miss him.”
