Last week, Grade 7 students in Mrs. Kristen Pisacreta’s Humanities Class transformed the classroom into the Legacy Poetry Café. This experience created a safe place for students to be honest, passionate and vulnerable while showcasing their work.

Students explored identity and learned about the different ways our identities are shaped and formed. In addition, they connected their identities to civil and human rights activists they researched and expressed how they will continue their legacies in the fight for civil and human rights through spoken word poetry.   The goal was to inspire, teach, and celebrate humanity through our poetry.
