#IMAMUSTANG: Tabitha Nagy Combines Passions Making Dream A Reality

Upon learning thatΒ The Home Depot 25th Anniversary College Football Awards would be held at Atlanta’sΒ College Football Hall of Fame in December, MVPS seventh grader Tabitha Nagy immediately knew she had to be there. As a huge football fan, her favorite player — University of Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield — was a finalist for quarterback of the year.
With her parents, Tabitha contacted the awards organizer to obtain tickets to the event. She was pleasantly surprised when theyΒ extendedΒ an invitation for her to attend the pre-show media event. As an avid writer, she soon realized she could combine her passions to make her dream of someday having a career inΒ college football, a reality.
While in the media pit among a sea of professional adult sportswriters,Β she created her own opportunity to speak toΒ several football players, including her favorite – Mayfield. She asked him specifically about his inspiration and his journey.

“I really enjoyed coming up with questions to ask the players about themselves and was impressed with how humble they were,” remarks Tabitha. ”
Just a few weeks after meetingΒ Mayfield, Tabitha and her family were able to watch him play, in person,Β atΒ Miami’sΒ Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve. Tabitha shares, “Unfortunately, Oklahoma lost to Clemson but it was still a lot of fun!”
