High School eSports made its Varsity debut in 13 states in the Fall of the 2018-2019 school year and Mount Vernon was one of the first schools to get onboard. Since then, the competition has gone nationwide to include over 13,000 schools and 80,000 student-athletes. With Georgia being one of the largest programs with over 160 teams, the governing body, PlayVS, created a mini-documentary series highlighting select coaches and teams. With such a strong team, Mount Vernon was chosen as a standout. Watch the interview with Coach Cooper Fiscus-van Rossum about his experience as an eSports coach over the course of two seasons, while learning more about the sport that is taking high school athletics by storm.

This winter season, our League of Legends team made it to the first round (of 32 teams) in the playoffs and our Rocket League team will compete in the second round (of 16) competing on Thursday, January 16.

On Thursday, February 5, Mount Vernon will host the GHSA High School eSports State Championships for Rocket League and League of Legends. The event will take place in the Upper School Black Box Theater at 4:30 p.m.
