Oct 21, 2015 | IMAMUSTANG, Maverick, Upper School News, US Athletics

Munoz-Jake-203x300-1Senior Mustang Jacob Munoz is kind of a big deal. Physically strong and mentally tough, Munoz is currently ranked 17th in the nation as a high school football long snapper. Already a local hero, Jacob (Jake) is well on his way to carving out a spot for himself on a Division 1 team next fall. Fans are starting to take notice. Scouts are seeking him out and now, so is the one of the largest sports media franchises, Sports Illustrated.
The summer before his senior year, Munoz was named one of Sports Illustrated‘s “Faces in the Crowd,” a long-running segment focusing on amateur athletes. He is among good company, which includes Tiger Woods, Andy Roddick, Shawn Marion, Ben Roethlisberger and Tim Tebow. This honor lends itself to being a precursor to something bigger.

Armed with nothing but his cool, calm and collected demeanor, he humbly shared what just may be, up to now, four of the most important minutes of his life.

He does everything the right way and he is a tremendous leader and example for people to follow! When you think Mustangs football he is what you want people to think. He is the type of individual you want to build a program around. He is the type of individual you hope your daughter finds to marry. He’s a special young man and MVPS is a better place because of the impact of Jacob Munoz. I love that young man and we will miss him next year!”
Actively anticipating his post-graduation phase, Munoz is currently checking out several football fields around the nation.
