President’s Day, Monday, February 20
As a result of the overwhelming turnout for Middle School spring soccer tryouts, coaches Theo Economos (Varsity Boys) and Gavino Asteghene (Varsity Girls) generated a soccer workshop on President’s Day, a school Holiday, for Mount Vernon students (boys and girls) in grades 1 – 8.
Novices and advanced players were invited to join varsity soccer players and members of the MV coaching staff to improve all aspects of their game. The coaches developed a program to incorporate the skill sets a top performing player needs, while keeping it both simple and enjoyable.
Coach Economos shares, “What truly makes soccer such a beautiful game is that it is so simple, yet, in order to be mastered, commands the highest levels of fitness, skill and composure. If you are passionate about the game and want to improve, train with us and we will make you better.”
Coach David Song shares, “As the Middle School boys coach, I was excited that players from my own team and the girls team attended with excitement and motivation to improve their individual skills and to bring their talents to help the team. The experience was even more special because they had the opportunity to work with Varsity coaches Theo Economos and Gavino Asteghene.”
