In their first two meets, the Middle School Boys and Girls Cross Country, led by coaches Katie Cain, Kylie Stewart, Cole Asher, and Ben Hendry, have left their competitors in the dust. The team is made up of 71 total runners. In their first meet on September 2, they triumphed over six competing teams in two-mile races at the Perimeter School. The girls team was led by Morgan Huggins’ second-place finish out of 69 runners. The boys were paced by Haris Flynn who also finished second out of 140 runners.
In their second meet on September 11, the boys and girls combined scores put the Mustangs in first place out of eight teams. Fifty Mount Vernon runners beat their goal times on the two-mile course. Top improvements came from Rigby Clark, Ben Easterlin, Loulee Easterlin, Katie Walsh, and Dylan Jonas.

In varsity, the Mustangs hit the trails August 21 in the Mercy Invitational hosted by Our Lady of Mercy. The varsity girls finished fourth of six teams, with the boys coming in at fifth out of seven teams. Charlie Duerr finished in the Top-20 with an 18th place finish with Collin Maher behind him in 20th place with a time of 20:16. The girls were led by Taylor Keller who finished in 24:17 and landed 24th place.

In their second meet of the season, every runner who participated improved their time from the Mercy Invitational, and many runners clocked personal records.

The varsity Mustangs are led by first-year Head Coach, Jenn Brown, alongside Elizabeth Werdesheim and Aaron Hawkins.
