Strong Spring for the Mustangs

Mount Vernon Mustangs played strong this season, with heart, dedication and effort, setting records across the board. Here are a few spring highlights:

  • Morgan Lewis – top ranked hurdler in Region
  • Ahmir Lee – top ranked shotputter in region and 2nd in state – also set a new MVPS record
MS Track
  • Boys team finished 3rd overall in League Championships (Metro Area Track League)
  • Boys 4×1 relay finished second in League Championships
  • Girls finished 4th place in League Championships
  • Andrew Lee (100 and 200m), John Watson (100 & 200m), Eric Harris (shot put), Maya Munoz (shot put) and Micheala Nondstat (100 and 2oom), Nina Toller (800m), Olivia Barnes (100 & 200m) all advanced to GA MS State Championships

Varsity Tennis
  • Both boys and girls teams advanced to State Championships for first time in school history

  • Boys – Dylan Gant was 5-1 and girls #2 doubles team of Regan Kelly and Kendall Slats were undefeated
Varsity Baseball
  • Created school’s first ever JV baseball team
  • Overall record of 11-8
  • Peyton Evertson has 51 stolen bases, crushing previous school record

  • Fielded two 5/6 girls soccer teams for first time ever!
Varsity Boys Soccer
  • Overall record of 7-7 (most wins in a single season in history of MVPS boys soccer)
  • Drake Gomer finished as MVPS career goals leader

  • Currently 5-1. They beat every team they played at least once, including beating the team that beat them 3-0.

  • Team advanced to sectional championships
  • Ethan Mangum (pictured in Northside Neighbor) was a consistent top player at meets

The Positive Athlete Committee for Georgia has made its selections for the North Fulton regional award winners, selecting Coach Sharon Burnette as Most Positive Girls Coach in the region.
