IMG_6846With such a vast blend of customs and cultures represented within the Preschool classrooms, worldly reflections and personal stories are easy to come by. Over the course of the school year, parents and special friends have been visiting regularly, bringing interesting foods, music, books, games, flags and activities to class – all to make the world a little smaller and within reach for our littlest learners.

#MVLittles have now been exposed to many different countries, such as:
  • China
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • Thailand
  • Peru
  • Ecuador
  • Kenya
  • Rwanda
  • Netherlands
  • Costa Rica
  • Armenia
  • Czech Republic
  • Iran
  • Puerto Rico
  • Spain
  • Italy
Students were taught to play games from around the world, including Sapo – a traditional children’s game from Peru. They studied architecture from different countries and were very interested in the Eiffel Tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the use of arches in Roman buildings. One class was able to skype with a family friend in Costa Rica to see the wildlife and environment in that area. Some friends studied animals from different areas, including a wide range of birds, several species of poisonous frogs, and many other animals living in the rainforest.

Recently, demonstrations of their yearlong learning were exhibited during the International Marketplace event, where students went on an interactive global walk with their families, stamping passports and satisfying curiosity all along the way.
One parent commented, “This is my favorite event of the whole year and I look forward to it all year long.”
