MVPS Allstars Celebrate Spectacular Theatre Season

On April 4, Mount Vernon’s Upper School AllStar students, their families, and the fine arts faculty celebrated the 2013-2014 theatre season with an induction and awards ceremony. The newest members of the International Thespian Honor Society were formally inducted, senior members recapped the season, and Mr. Clark Taylor shared two videos highlighting the season’s theatrical performances. Additionally many of the seniors earned their honor cords to wear at next month’s commencement and each senior member received a memory box filled with good wishes from their fellow Allstars, friends, and family. Those inducted into the International Thespian Honor Society this year were: Anjana Anankumar, Jackson Dalton, Tim DeShay, Shelby Garde, Michael McConnell, Cara Prince, Madison Silver, Solomon Simmons, Anya Smith-Roman, Abby VanLandingham, and Jon Walsh.

One Act Fall Performance– Tim DeShay and Solomon Simmons
Rookie of the Year– Michael McConnell
Best Supporting Actor– Joseph Martin
Best Supporting Actress– Anya Smith-Roman
Best Actor– Jonathan Moore
Best Actress– Savannah Rettig
All Star Award– Chris and Martha Moore (parents of Jonathan Moore)
Honorary Thespian Award– Nancy McConnell (parent of Michael McConnell)
Techie Awards– Jackson Dalton, Solomon Simmons, Stacey She, and Gina Zhang
Honor Thespian– Bryce Veach, Dana Cohen, Joseph Martin, Jonathan Moore, Savannah Rettig, Stacey She, Bryce Veach and Gina Zhang (also received Thespian Stars for completion of over 100 hrs.)

Closing out the evening, Mr. Taylor announced the 2014-2015 theatre season line-up:
Fall Main Stage: Mort by Sir Terry Pratchett, adapted for the stage by Stephen Briggs
Winter Main Stage: Welcome to Night Vale– an original stage adaptation by Trey Boden and Clark Taylor of the cult radio podcast.
Spring Musical: The Cotton Patch Gospel by Tom Key, Music by Harry Chapin
