Russell Todd Appointed as Chief Digital Architectnp-digital-0725
With more than 20 years of informational technology experience, Russell Todd joins MVPS to lead the School’s technology division. As Mount Vernon’s Chief Digital Architect he replaces outgoing Chief Technology Officer Mikey Canup.
Russell is a familiar face to many. He and his wife Amy and and their two Mount Vernon Mustangs, Haley (Class of 2016) and Erin (Class of 2018) have been a Mount Vernon family since 2004. Over the past couple of years Russell has been an organizer of the Men of Mount Vernon and in 2013 he was a member of the School’s 2013 Council on Innovation.
He received his bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Auburn University, and during the last ten years he has served North Point Ministries in various capacities — Digital Solutions Architect, Web Director, and Web Developer/Project Manager. As Digital Solutions Architect, Russell was responsible for all technologies used to deliver applications, websites, and other technical solutions. In addition, he mentored developers, evaluated new technologies, helped manage resources/project pipelines, and implemented process improvements. Prior to North Point, he was involved in several startups and worked in large corporate environments, such as AT&T, as a software developer and engineer.
With a unique combination of technical expertise, a strategic mindset, and his relational personality, Russell will bring his “real world” corporate and nonprofit experience to Mount Vernon. We look forward to having him assist the School in advancing our technology infrastructure, providing high touch service to students and staff, and developing a strategic plan for the entire school, especially as we transition to a new Upper School building in several years.
“Every year the vision for Mount Vernon gets more compelling and more inspiring, and the potential for us to make an impact on the lives of not only our students, but also on schools all over the country is monumental. I am excited about the opportunity to help drive Mount Vernon’s vision forward from a technology perspective, and I hope that my background and passion will enable me to help students, teachers, and leaders at our school leverage technology in new and amazing ways,” shares Russell.
The School deeply appreciates Chief Technology Officer Mikey Canup for his leadership over the past four years. He and Russell will work together through a transition period through the end of the school year.
