On Wednesday, November 13, members of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs visited Mount Vernon to install the School’s Interact Club’s newest officers, members, and Advisor for the 2019-20 school year.

President: McLaren Christensen, senior
Vice President: Caroline Morrison, junior
Secretary: Jack McGuire, senior
Historian: Annabel Santoli, senior
Faculty Advisor: Dr. Audrey Schewe, Upper School Humanities Teacher

Dr. Schewe will co-serve with the Club’s sponsor, Pamela Wall, a long-time member of Rotary.

The Mount Vernon School is deeply connected to several faculty members who were guests of honor at the ceremony. Both Chris Andres and Sheldon Wray Staples served as Interact officers in their respective high schools. Upper School art teacher Mariana Depetris came to America from Argentina as an exchange student through Rotary International. Director of Multicultural and Divers Networks Brandi Hoyos is also a current member of the sponsoring Rotary Club.

Rotary Club of Sandy Springs President Nancy Schroeder and Club Youth Director Barton Lowery were also present at the induction ceremony. In addition to the induction ceremony, the Interact Club also presented Rotary with a check from a recent fundraiser for Polio Eradication.

Pamela Wall chartered this Interact Club in 2012. One of the first contributions the Club made to the School was to establish and maintain the International Peace Pole located on the walking trail next to the Middle School building.

Congratulations to the newly installed officers.
