Now, an anticipated tradition, the Senior Salute celebrates soon-to-be graduates as they walk the halls of Founders Campus, flanked by students in Kindergarten through grade 6 giving them high-fives.
Trying on their caps and gowns for the very first time, members of the Class of 2018 could hardly contain their excitement as they marched in and out of the buildings where many of them began their Mount Vernon journey as Lower School students.
This event marks their first official step toward graduation weekend, with Baccalaureate on Friday, May 18 and Commencement on Saturday, May 19.
Following the Senior Salute the Class of 2018 were joined by Mount Vernon alumni for theΒ Always a MustangΒ event.Β  In its second year, this event aims to help the soon-to-be graduates feel more prepared for life after MV by giving them advice from those who went before them – the alumni.

Joining the seniors for this event were:
Charlie Goldman (’16), University of Georgia
Ryan Hackett (’17), Auburn
Alan Harris (’17), Western Carolina Univeristy
Harrison Jones (15), University of Georgia
Jay Middleton (’17), Georgia Tech
Sierra Middleton (’15), University of Georgia
John Traurig (’17), Clemson
AJ Whitney (’17), Duke
Mia Whitney (’17), Vanderbilt
Brittany Whitstine (’17), Auburn
These 10 alumni in attendance served on three panels – College Academics, Getting Involved Socially in College and Freshman Year Specifics.Β  They each shared their own experiences, and answered questions from the seniors.Β  Specific topics covered included finding a major that’s the right fit for you, time management and study skills, Greek life and clubs, the Freshman 15, school and major transfers, and more!
We are grateful for the alumni who continue to be plugged in and engaged in the Mount Vernon community, and are excited to welcome 72 new graduates into the alumni family!
