The Mount Vernon community filled an entire moving truck–twice— after generously donating during the Share the Well Food Drive. At a time when those in need throughout Sandy Springs need it the most, our School stepped up in big way.
With students taking the lead and partnering for a second year in a row with Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, the food drive was the most successful collection effort ever. Inspired through chapel messages, classroom service learning, and field trips to the Community Assistance Center (the supporting organization), Mount Vernon went into Easter donating 3,765 items weighing in at 5,000 pounds. Middle School donated the most with one sixth grader Conlan Weeks giving more than 500 items!
Closing out the experience this week students in fourth grade return to the Community Assistance Center-CAC- to sort the thousands of donated items. Thank you Mount Vernon for your abundant giving. By Sharing the Well we are making an impact!
CAC Volunteer Coordinator Debbie Olson shares, “I believe Mount Vernon’s Share the Well drive was the largest a school has ever done in recent history.”
