In between two-a-day practices this summer, Mount Vernon’s varsity football team lived out of one of the School’s norms of Sharing the Well. After being approached by Sylvia McAdams a member of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church and PastorJoe B Martin, the team members volunteered their time to clean up the grounds of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library in Sandy Springs. McAdams a long time supporter of the library and was shocked to find out that due to budget cuts the county had not been able to maintain the grounds in over a year. Thirty-five of the players pulled weeds, blew off the driveways and put down cedar mulch. Coach Zimmerman says that over the summer the average MVPS Football Player completed between 16-20 hours of community service, and says the team will return to the library later in the season to help.

“We are very grateful to her and your student athletes for taking pride in their community and donating their time with the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library,” says Heather Staniszewski,Β Volunteer Services Manager at theΒ Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System.
