  • Senior Dillon BriggsΒ qualified for State for the second year in a row with a 293 (270 needed). Β He plans to attend the University of Tennessee, where he has been invited to walk on to the Diving team.

Final GHSA State Swimming and Diving Team: Β Dillon Briggs, Charlie Goldman, Ian Hughes, Nic Lew, Ben Martin, James McGuire, and Hunter Whitney. The Diving Championship is Thursday, February 5 and the Swimming Championships are Friday and Saturday, February 6 and 7.
For the first time in Mount Vernon history, we have qualified all 3 boys relays (200 Medley Relay, 200 Free, 400 Free).
Coach Colley says, “These numbers are really exciting for the team because three years ago when I started here, our State team consisted of me and Sean King driving down to Tech in my car!”
To demonstrate how close-knit the team is, many members showed up to support fellow teammatesΒ Hunter Whitney and Ian Hughes as they received their Eagle Scout honor.
