US Athlete of the Week: Ahmir Lee, Varsity Football
Ahmir was nearly unstoppable in the Mustangs 31-7 victory over Towns County on Friday night, with 18 carries for 134 yards and 3 touchdowns AND 4 receptions for 114 yards and another score. The gold volleyball squad had a very successful week, going 2-0! The entire team contributed to the wins, but no one more so than Lauren Roush. Lauren was solid offensively and defensively and led the squad with an unheard of 14 straight service points in in Tuesday’s win. Great work Lauren and the rest of the Gold Volleyball squad!

WEEK OF AUGUST 24, 2015
US Athlete of the Week – Maxine Peterson, Grade 10
Maxine, in her first ever MVPS Cross Country meet, set a new school record of 22:30, besting the previous record of 22:34 set by Emmy Bowman in 2012. Coach Piligian was not only impressed with Maxine’s time, but also her attitude after setting the record in just her first meet:

“Two things impressed me about Maxine’s performance.Β  First, she broke the record in her first ever XC race at MVPS – that’s equivalent to a major league rookie hitting a home run in his first at-bat.Β  Second, the race was barely over, and she was already planning how she could change her race strategy to improve in future meets.Β  I expect that she’ll break her own mark several times during this season”

We look forward to great things from Maxine and the rest of the squad!

IMG_0057MS Athlete of the Week – Sarah Schab, Grade 7
Much is expected of this years MS softball team after a very successful season last year. 7th grader Sarah Schab did her part to make sure the team started off on the right track, pitching a solid, complete game, 6-3 victory over Pace. Great job to Sarah and the rest of the team for a job very well done!
