On one of the first chilly Friday evenings of fall, almost 300 Mount Vernon parents, faculty, and staff showed up to Rock the Block in their festival gear: boots, jeans, sweaters, and hats, while carrying lawn chairs and blankets.
Taking advantage of the opportunity to mingle socially, parents grabbed dinner from food trucks, a beer or wine from Vino Venue and listened to live music, provided by Men in Blues, on the Sandy Springs Heritage Green lawn.
The first ever Mount Vernon Rock the Block set the conditions to build relationships by encouraging a divisional mix and bringing new families into the fold.
