Community Pride
At Mount Vernon, we believe that a strong, engaged community starts with our families. There are numerous ways for parents to get involved and make a lasting impact. Parents, grandparents, and extended family can learn alongside students as active and engaged members of our community, invest their time and talents by serving in various capacities, join committees within our parent network, and participate in our exciting school signature events.
Together, the Mount Vernon community creates a nurturing and dynamic environment that enriches the educational experience for all. Explore the opportunities below and discover how you can be a vital part of the Mount Vernon community!
At the moment when someone can say to themselves, "I’m a Mustang," they already have a sense of belonging. A feeling of pride. An appreciation for school spirit.
They are a part of the community. The Mount Vernon community.
LEARN
Parents, grandparents, and extended family LEARN alongside students as active engaged members of the community. Through Mount Vernon’s Parent University, the School offers unique insights and opportunities for lifelong learning with an annual Speaker Series, Divisional Connections, Learning Walks, and special events.
During our annual Speaker Series, industry experts provide enterprise on topics tied to the Mount Vernon student experience. The School draws from a deep bench of in-house learning designers to national speakers providing insights and best practices.
Divisional Connections offer more specific insights into student learning and life in the Preschool, Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School.
Mount Vernon faculty have been conducting learning walks and instructional rounds, to transform school culture from a closed-door, master-teacher mindset to an open-door, collaborator mindset, for many years. Recognizing the value, the invitation is extended to parents to accompany teachers on these learning walks. With quiet, independent observations, parents enter the classroom, fade into the background or look over a student’s shoulder to better understand learning. By participating in the classroom as an observer, or a questioner, MV parents gain a strong understanding of the learning that is taking place through student comments, conversations, and actions. All parents are invited to see learning in action.
These events bring our community together through fellowship, advance the mission of the School, and drive impact.

This Committee helps plan and manage school-wide events, fundraisers, and special activities, including Rock the Block, Grandparents Day, Mustang Rally, Volunteer Appreciation, Homecoming events, Auctions, and Galas.
MV Grandparents Committee provides grandparents with an opportunity to support the school’s mission, to help build a stronger community that is inclusive of our grandparents and caregivers, and to impact and engage in our students’ learning experience.
This committee works directly with the Heads of the Preschool, Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School to plan events and strategic engagement opportunities that contribute to the “Mustang Magic” that goes hand in hand with our supportive and inclusive community. In addition, we create opportunities and cultural experiences for Mustangs across all divisions to develop meaningful relationships through connection and annual traditions, including the Alpha Omega Parade, student volunteer opportunities, and peer mentorship.
The Admissions and New Family Ambassadors serve as an extension of the Admissions team. Engagement opportunities include connecting with prospective families during admissions events, assisting with outreach, submitting online reviews, and shepherding new families during their first year at Mount Vernon.
MV Serves is a parent-led committee dedicated to cultivating a culture of helping others in love without expecting something in return, by teaching our students how to lead with a servant’s heart in our local community. Throughout the school year, MV Serves implements three week-long service opportunities for the entire campus and MV community. “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
The MV Appreciation Committee provides care and appreciation for our families, staff, and faculty through the organization of school-wide faculty appreciation days, in partnership with non-profit organizations and community groups and businesses.
The MV Prayers committee strives to exemplify the school’s foundational bedrock of the fruit of the Spirit by lifting up our families, staff, faculty, and the greater community through prayer and caring actions. They meet monthly to offer support, prayer, and care for the MV Community. Finally, they work closely with the Lower and Upper Campus chapel leaders.
Made in MV spreads spirit throughout the community. Volunteer options include working in the Made in MV store in the Upper Campus building, volunteering at the uniform resale, and pop-up shops at campus events.
The Men of Mount Vernon (MMV) is a community of engaged fathers, grandfathers, and male faculty who actively support Mount Vernon’s initiatives and their children’s education through networking, volunteering, and meaningful contributions to the school community.
The MV TechWise committee aims to educate and empower families raising kids in the digital age. This committee believes that we are better together when we can learn from each other and promote healthy digital habits within the community.
Annual Fund Champions are parent volunteers who help every family understand the importance of the Annual Fund and drive participation through strategic personal outreach between August and December.

🎉 Congratulations to our 2025–2026 Middle School Junior Prefects!
Since launching in 2018, the Junior Prefect program has empowered Grade 7 and 8 students to grow as leaders—building confidence, representing their peers, and shaping a positive school culture. This year’s team kicked things off with a Leadership Retreat, where they set goals, established norms, and brainstormed how they’ll make an impact across the division. We can’t wait to see how their leadership helps Middle School continue to grow and thrive this year! 💙

Grade 4 explored how stained glass windows in the Middle Ages told stories when most people couldn’t read. Inspired by this tradition, students interviewed classmates and designed their own “windows” to reflect each partner’s interests, values, and personality.
Along the way, they practiced empathy, creativity, and storytelling—making powerful connections between history, art, and design.
