Dr. David Paperno serves as Head of Mount Vernon School Online, bringing extensive experience in teaching and learning across international, domestic, in-person, and virtual settings. With deep expertise in online education, Dr. Paperno leads MVSO’s academic program with a commitment to high-quality instruction, meaningful student support, and innovative learning experiences that meet the needs of students beyond a traditional classroom setting.
In addition to leading the overall academic success and strategic direction of MVSO, Dr. Paperno teaches rigorous quantitative and empirical methods used in physics and chemistry. He holds a Doctorate Degree in Education from the University of Georgia and brings a thoughtful, future-focused approach to shaping the continued growth and impact of online learning at Mount Vernon.

This Memorial Day, we honor those who served by empowering students to serve with purpose.
As part of a new service learning pilot, Grade 3 students chose to give up their recess to partner with residents at MV Village. After learning about the significance of Memorial Day and residents’ love of poppies, students stepped in to design and lead a holiday-themed arts and crafts experience from the ground up.
From creating puzzles, poppies, and flags to supporting residents one-on-one, students led with empathy, creativity, and heart.
Most inspiring of all? They’re already imagining what comes next — hoping to build an ongoing partnership and continue serving their neighbors with their whole hearts.
