Katie, a Roswell, Georgia native and third-generation Georgia Bulldog, joined Mount Vernon in 2010 as a Middle School science teacher. With a background in history, math and science education, curriculum, and instructional technology, Katie now serves as the Lower School Head of Learning & Innovation. In this role, she works alongside Lower School teachers to thoughtfully design curriculum, strengthen instructional practices, and use assessment to better understand and support student learning. She is passionate about creating learning experiences that are purposeful, engaging, and rooted in curiosity. The best part of her school day is teaching Lower School science. In her free time, she enjoys reading, drinking coffee, and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Scott, have three Mustangs: Charlotte ’36, Sophia ’39, and Rose ’40, as well as two cats and a dog.
