Dr. Audrey Schewe (Shay-way) believes that the conditions that make learning come alive for students are the same ones that make educators grow, and she’s spent her career designing both. As Upper School Head of Learning and Innovation, she works closely with the Learning Architects to examine instruction, curriculum, and assessment, and leads the professional learning efforts that help ensure every student experiences deeper, more meaningful learning. She also teaches humanities in the Upper School, where her passion for civics, US history, and student engagement shows up in the classroom every day.

Audrey brings more than three decades of experience as a social science educator, curriculum developer, instructional coach, and researcher, including award-winning work in educational media. Her doctoral research focuses on what actually motivates students to engage, a question she takes seriously, whether she’s working with a teacher, designing a program, or planning a unit.
