David Ayers serves as Associate Head of Middle School, bringing deep experience as a veteran classroom teacher and school leader across both Middle and Lower School. Since joining Mount Vernon, David has played an integral role in shaping the Middle School student experience through his leadership in student life, expeditionary learning, class trips, field day, socials, clubs, and student leadership opportunities.

In his role as Associate Head of Middle School, David supports the daily life and strategic direction of the division, working closely with students, teachers, and families to foster a positive, relational, and engaging learning environment. With a strong commitment to student growth, belonging, and leadership, David helps create meaningful experiences that support students both inside and outside the classroom. As a Mount Vernon parent of two daughters, David is deeply invested in the life of the School and the community it serves.
