Katie Jennison joined Mount Vernon in 2021 as the Lower School Executive Assistant. In this role, she works from the Lower School front desk to support the day-to-day operations of our Kindergarten through Grade 5 students. She works closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to ensure every Mustang in the Lower School has a great experience. During the summer, Katie runs AMP Camp, Mount Vernon’s summer day camp! She also works closely with the Arts program in the Lower School, helping with events like the Variety Show and her Playmaker choirs.

This Memorial Day, we honor those who served by empowering students to serve with purpose.
As part of a new service learning pilot, Grade 3 students chose to give up their recess to partner with residents at MV Village. After learning about the significance of Memorial Day and residents’ love of poppies, students stepped in to design and lead a holiday-themed arts and crafts experience from the ground up.
From creating puzzles, poppies, and flags to supporting residents one-on-one, students led with empathy, creativity, and heart.
Most inspiring of all? They’re already imagining what comes next — hoping to build an ongoing partnership and continue serving their neighbors with their whole hearts.
