After Graduation

Recent graduates include National Merit Scholars, Morehead-Cain Finalists, STAMPS Scholars, and signed collegiate athletes in all divisions. After college, Mount Vernon Alumni can be found working in the fast-paced world of social media for NBA teams, flying for Delta, living and working internationally in Paris for global tech companies, pioneering new technologies in Silicon Valley for companies like Meta, returning to Mount Vernon to invest back into the community they love so much, and serving our country as medical, nuclear, and technological specialists in the military.

Tuition at The Mount Vernon School includes all academic instruction, including personalized support (teacher tutorials and one-on-one), access to full Collaborative Care services, including learning coaches, counselors and nurses, MV expeditions, lunch and (in the Upper School) our comprehensive 4-year college counseling program.

Fee Structure

Mount Vernon’s fee structure allows you to tailor your family’s experience by opting into relevant and contextualized learning pathways and extracurricular programs, like arts and athletics. With this approach, families pay specifically for the additional services they choose.

OPTIONAL PROGRAMS

  • Middle School Extended Day (Grades 6 – 8) – $4,700
  • Lower School Extended Play (Grades K – 5) – $5,300
  • Preschool Extended Play (PK3 – PK5) – $5,300
  • Preschool Extended Play (PK2) – $5,700

*Your Extended Day and Play billing will be billed in 10 monthly installments, one month in arrears of attendance.
*If not enrolled in an Extended Day or Play program, you may attend at the drop-in fee of $25/hour.

Beginning in Middle School, a variety of extracurricular Arts programming in addition to the core curriculum is available for extracurricular opt-in.

Beginning at Grade 5, Mount Vernon Athletics offers extracurricular competition opportunities with over 65 individual teams.

The Upper School Innovation Diploma program is an additional $4,600 annually.

AFFORDING MOUNT VERNON

A $2,500 non-refundable deposit of K-12 and a $1,500 non-refundable deposit for Preschool is due at time of enrollment. There are no administrative fees charged for utilizing a payment plan.

  • 1 payment: Pay in full at time of enrollment
  • 3 payments: Payments are due June 1, August 1, and November 1
  • 10 payments: Payments are due the 1st of the month June – March

  • 1 payment: Pay in full at time of enrollment
  • 3 payments: Payments are due April 1, August 1, and November 1
  • 10 payments: Payments are due the 1st of the month April – January

The Mount Vernon School offers financial assistance based solely on need for families with children applying to Kindergarten and above. The School subscribes to the AAAIS Financial Aid Policy which requires all interested families to submit specific financial information to determine eligibility. Information and applications are on the Clarity website. A Clarity one-page quick guide and the Family Application Guide are available for your reference.

For consideration for the 2025-2026 school year, you must:

  • Returning Families: submit all requests forms and applications to Clarity by December 1, 2024. New Families: submit all requested forms and applications to Clarity by March 1, 2025.
  • Sign and submit Form 4506c through the Clarity website permitting Clarity to pull your prior year (2023) tax returns. Please complete this form by February 20, 2025, after February 20, 2025, you will need to import your 2023 tax return, or 2024, if available, into Clarity.

The final determination of financial assistance dollars rests with the School and is subject to the availability of funds and number of financial assistance applicants. Notification of award is sent when an applicant is offered an opportunity to enroll. Families have an additional opportunity to purchase Tuition Refund Insurance for the 2025-2026 school year. This insurance will provide substantial assistance in meeting your financial tuition obligation under the enrollment contract should you be forced to withdraw your student due to an unforeseen event such as a job loss, other detrimental financial circumstances, sickness, death of a family member, or change of objective.

  • Please refer to the Tuition Insurance Brochure for details of the insurance coverage and qualifying conditions under which the insurance coverages will apply.
  • The rate for the tuition insurance is 1.6% of your student’s total tuition and will be billed in August, due September 1.
  • To purchase this insurance, outside of the re-enrollment or enrollment process, please email [email protected] by July 31, stating that you would like to purchase the annual Tuition Insurance for your student. After July 31, A.W.G Dewar Insurance Agency will deny the option to purchase the insurance.
