Purpose

Globally Competitive
Network
Rather than being passive consumers of information, Upper School learners are invited to actively solve complex problems, with a growing emphasis on project- and team-based approaches, as well as significant focus on deeper learning. Through world languages, international travel, exchange programs, and deep collaboration with external experts, the School connects learners with tangible needs in the world, propelling them toward global competence.
An engaged citizen leader
Impact
Through hands-on service, Mount Vernon students collaborate with notable local and global organizations to make a difference in their world today. Exploration, research, and empathy combined with unprecedented access supports real-life, real-world impact, as evidenced in the student-leadership roles earned in various local organizations.

The Upper School Building
Mount Vernon’s unique, innovative Upper School building pushes all the limits of what school can look like.
Well-Being
The Upper Campus counseling team provides support to strengthen social and emotional development, deepen connections with others, and increase awareness, belonging, and acceptance of oneself. Through IDEA, students have a network of peers, professionals, and mentors who create a safe and welcome space for every individual.
Athletics
Competing in the Georgia High School Association (GHSA), Mount Vernon’s Athletic Department strives to holistically develop every student-athlete by providing a five-star experience built on hospitality, community, culture, supporting athletes and coaches, courage, focus, fearlessness, fortitude, and professionalism.
Arts & Design
Upper School students customize their arts and design experience through a unique ecosystem of courses, extra-curricular options, and travel/internship/competition opportunities. From film broadcasting to studio recording, yoga and mindfulness to competitive dance, graphic design to maker and engineering, and immersive reality to an internationally recognized theatre program, creative expression is unlimited.
Spiritual Life
Nurturing Christian values of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control through weekly chapel and service, we ask questions, share stories, and build relationships. Inspiring one another through the work we undertake together, we seek to design a better world, searching for maximum impact.
