Meet the Team
Coaching & Training
Mount Vernon Athletics is the 2024 winner of the prestigious Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA) Director’s Cup. The highest achievement a high school athletic program can receive, the Director’s Cup reflects the overall success of the entire athletic program, with points awarded for each team based on their finish in the GHSA state playoffs.
We design competitive programs led by growing, masterful, and passionate coaches focused on the skill development, health & well-being, and leadership growth of all student-athletes.
Sports Medicine
Mount Vernon’s Sports Medicine team of nationally certified and state-licensed athletic trainers ensures student-athletes receive top-quality medical care tailored to their sports-related needs. Providing compassionate care in the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emergent, acute, or chronic injuries and medical conditions the team prioritizes getting each student-athlete back on the field as quickly and safely as possible. Should one of our student-athletes need services, they are encouraged to schedule an appointment or visit the MV Sports Medicine Department located on the lower level of the Mustang Athletic Center.
Mustangs in Training
Mustangs in Training (MIT) is a multi-sports program created to introduce Lower School students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 to a variety of Mount Vernon athletic programs. Mustangs in Training is designed to be inclusive, safe, and age-appropriate, providing opportunities for students of all abilities to participate and improve their skills while connecting with Varsity coaches and student-athletes.
Through a partnership with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, our on-campus team can manage a wide range of sports-related injuries. Dr. Steve Kroll serves as our medical director, specializing in diagnosing and treating sports-related injuries, nonoperative musculoskeletal injuries, overuse injuries, and concussion management. Dr. Cliff Willimon, our orthopedic surgeon, specializes in pediatric orthopedics. We are very excited to have both of them by our side to help care for our athletes.
