Mount Vernon Mustangs

As the Director of Athletics, Brad oversees our interscholastic programs for our Upper School as they compete in the Georgia High School Association, our Middle School as they compete in the Metro 10 Athletic Conference, and our Lower School engagement within our athletic program called Mustangs In Training. Brad recently finished his twelfth year in the role as an Athletic Director and ninth at Mount Vernon. He has been serving in independent schools for twenty-six years serving in various capacities as a head varsity football coach, head varsity tennis coach, and math and economics teacher.

Rita Williams serves as the Middle School Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Director. In her role, she oversees all of the day to day operations of middle school athletics and programs by fostering a safe and inclusive environment for student-athletes.

She had a proven track record with over a decade of experience in the youth and amateur sports world with Elevate Sports Academy, which she founded in 2013. A former UCONN Basketball player and WNBA All-Star, Rita uses her athletic expertise to inspire and nurture young talent while developing, supporting and guiding the next generation of young athlete

Lamar oversees day to day functions for the athletic department here at Mount Vernon, mapping field and gym use for practices and competitions, coordinating transportation needs for athletic events, and building/maintaining relationships with outside facility vendors. He also oversees game day management operations from concessions to referees. Spanning 16 years working in independent day schools fostering foundational relationships through his work in athletics, Lamar joined the Mount Vernon family in 2020. As a career athlete, Lamar cherishes the lessons being taught to Mount Vernon Students each day through interscholastic competition.

As Head Athletic Trainer, Hiro oversees medical service to all students participating in athletics from Grades 5-12. Hiro and his team provide daily injury elevation, treatment, and rehabilitation as well as home game coverage. With 15 years of experience at professional, NCAA Division I universities, high schools, and private practice settings before joining Mount Vernon in 2022, Hiro brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in advanced myofascial release technique, Kinesio Taping, and injury prevention programs to minimize sports-related injuries and its recovery time. As a former college athlete, Hiro understands the importance of creating the safest environments while supporting athletes in performance enhancement.

Peter earned degrees in Athletic Training and in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Georgia. During his time there, he gained valuable experience working with the UGA football, men’s tennis, and track and field teams. He further refined his skills working with organizations like the Atlanta Falcons and the 2017 NCAA Tennis Championships. Following his academic tenure, he joined the Northside Hospital Sports Medicine team as the athletic trainer for multiple Gwinnett County schools. Entering his second year at Mount Vernon, Peter remains committed to supporting his athletes’ recovery, preventing future injuries, and enhancing athletic performance.

Chandler Lee has been a member of the Mount Vernon School community for seven years, where he expertly manages sports information and broadcasting. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication and Rhetoric, Chandler brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role. Since beginning his broadcasting career in 2006, he has covered high school, collegiate, and semi-professional sports.

Chandler’s diverse skill set includes communications, public relations, marketing, feature writing, sports broadcasting, news reporting, webcasting, and various aspects of writing and on-air reporting for mass media. At Mount Vernon, he is responsible for sports website management and content, writing game recaps, producing videos with coaches and players, managing sports social media, and broadcasting athletic events with dynamic play-by-plays.
