Unstoppable: Mount Vernon’s MS Softball Team is Undefeated

Sep 30, 2015 | Middle School News, MS Athletics

BP__0023One of the the biggest success stories this year in athletics is Mount Vernon’s Middle School Softball team. This dominant group of Mustangs, many of whom returned to the team from last year, is undefeated this season after playing 11 games. Not only that, so far in each region match up, the opposing teams haven’t scored a single run.
Coach Jamey Woods attributes much of the Mustangs’ success to the experienced field of players as well the team’s ability to learn from their mistakes. He also believes the “Three-Headed Monster” has given the team an edge–the monster being the team’s three pitchers, Caroline Bernstein (grade 8), Sarah Schab (grade 7), and Kendall Slayden (grade 6). Additionally, he credits Jane Holliday (grade 6), Carson Watson (grade 8), and Natalie Bernstein (grade 6) with making a big impact on the team offensively.
“The entire team has really come together, and there really is no limit to what this team can do,” says Woods.
The Mustangs head into the playoffs which begin at Mount Vernon next Monday. Go Mustangs!!
