A Mustang Becomes a Mountain LIon

Softball star and Mount Vernon Mustang Lauren Daniel is on her way to becoming a Mountain Lion–a Young Harris College Mountain Lion that is.
On National Signing Day, MVPS shortstop Lauren Daniel signed with Young Harris College, a Division II school. Celebrating her achievement, her family, coaches, faculty, and friends surrounded her with support during the signing ceremony.
Thanking her parents, her coaches and her friends, Lauren expressed to the crowd her tremendous gratitude for the opportunity.
Lauren’s coach for the last four years, MVPS Varsity Softball Coach Mike Edmonson shared,
“Lauren has contributed mightily and invigorated our program. We couldn’t have done it without her leadership, even after her injury she was instrumental in rallying the girls. Thank you for all your hard work. Thank you for setting the example for others to follow. Young Harris has got a great ball player; they’re going to be a better team on the field because of you.”

Lauren and her softball teammates went 19-13 on year. Highlights included beating three-time defending State Champ Eagles Landing Christian Academy 2-1 and hammering Strong Rock in the region playoffs to advance to the championship game.
