Mount Vernon Junior and Senior Prom will be held at Rays on the River on April 11, 2014 from 8:00-11:00 p.m. Rays on the River is located on Powers Ferry Road in Sandy Springs, only a few minutes away from the school. Prom will be held in their Grand Pavilion with a scenic overlooking view of the river. The Grand Pavilion has a draped ceiling and hanging chandeliers. There will be several large round tables and chairs as well as highboy tables surrounding the dance floor. If the weather permits, the dance floor will extend onto a small outside patio.

Rays on the River is not only beautiful, but the evening will also include amazing food. Heavy appetizers and desserts will be served all evening including sliders, oysters, lobster tails, chicken tenders, shrimp cocktails, chips and dip, scallops, fried green tomatoes, crème brulee, brownies, a variety of cakes and cookies, and much more! If students decide to eat a full meal before, Rays offers them a discounted prom menu. However, students are advised to eat a light or no dinner before because dinner food is provided. Tips for the waiters are already included in the prom ticket. The DJ will be lighting up the dance floor, not only with music, but also with decorative lights. Valet parking for students and limo parking is also included in the ticket. If you have any questions about the food, venue, or prom in general, please contact Mrs. Parker or Kinsey Peterson.
Tickets will be sold March 31-April 4, with no tickets sold at the door. A table will be set up outside the cafeteria during lunch where you can purchase your ticket. Tickets are all inclusive at $68.00. When a student purchases a ticket, he/she will also need to tell us if you will be driving to prom and who your date is if you have one. While students do not need a date to attend prom, if they are bringing an outside date, they will need to fill out a form and return it to school at least three days prior to prom.
Voting for prom court will take place on Tuesday April 8 and king and queen will be voted on Thursday April 10. Prom king and queen will be crowned towards the end of the dance.
Prom on the River is sure to be a breathtaking night, so make sure you buy your tickets early so the fun may begin!
