Mount Vernon’s fall female athletes continue to be successful on the court and the field, with Varsity Volleyball holding an 8-2 overall record and Varsity Softball 6-1-1. Even in Middle School, the Mustangs are performing strong. Varsity Volleyball opened their season at home last week, sweeping Pace and Riverwood in front of a loud crowd in the Upper Campus Gym.

The Mustangs fell to Pace 25-10 in the first set, but rallied for the W in the final two sets, 25-20 and 15-6. Against Riverwood, Mount Vernon pushed for a 2-set victory, winning 25-20 each. Sophia Van Name led the team with 14 kills with Maggie Sims adding 10.

Junior Varsity Volleyball is currently holding at 4-4, winning their last two games against Atlanta International and Riverwood. In Middle School, both the Blue and White teams are 2-0 after each defeating Kings Ridge and Holy Innocents last week.

In Varsity Softball, the Mustangs are on a five-game win streak, most recently defeating Darlington on the road, 10-1. Kennedy Reynolds, Lauren Dove, and Grace Westmoreland each had two RBIs, leading MV to the win. Junior Varsity currently sits at 1-0 after a 2-0 victory over St. Francis.

Last week, Class of 2026 Mollie Martin pitched a no-hitter against Saint Francis, leading to a 2-0 win in the Middle School Softball season-opener.
