Being globally competitive at Mount Vernon begins with our youngest learners.
Diving into their last PBL (project based learning) for the year, first graders scoured the globe to learn about cultures, environments, climates, landmarks, capitals, humanities, historical events, and more.
Truly transcending all disciplines, children discovered connections to math, literacy, social studies, science, art, and maker. They each drew a map, created a mural and built iconic structures related to their respective countries.
The project culminated with costumed students lining the hallway, as they presented their knowledge to faculty, parents and peers through fun facts, historical references, and cardboard creations.
